Silence in the wings: Week 3, 26th -28th January 2021

Tuesday 26th: We continued on with any written work that we had left to do.

Wednesday 27th: We start the day with a sound lesson in which we were given several audio files to pick from and to change however we wanted, this was a little difficult for me as I don't quite have the hang of editing files the way I want to. I'm not sure why but when experimenting I find it a lot easier to make something I like when I record it myself, I don't know if that's because it gives me more control over the final outcome or if its because I can then add exactly what it needs, which I can't do if we are only allowed to use the files that we are given. I didn't end up changing it that much because I wasn't really sure where to start but I don't think the subtle change is bad. After that we were given a couple of tasks to choose from to do, I ended up doing the makeup tasks which were to re create makeup from the 20s, 40s or the 80s. In the end I chose to do the 20s and the 80s as I thought they would be easy to distinguish between.

For the 20s makeup it would have been better if I had enough time to block out my eyebrows instead of just going over them, but other than that I think it looked fairly accurate. I didn't quite like the 80s makeup as I think it should of had more colour to it in the eyes and on the cheeks, however I don't think it looks that bad especially with the hair as an added detail although I think it should of been more fluffed up.

Thursday 28th: In our drama lesson we did a couple more exercises to get to know each other better, such as two truths and one lie. At the end of the session we did another read through of the poem we read last week, but this time we focused on the way we express ourselves and the words to give them new meanings. After that we had a meeting on our roles in 'Silence in the wings' and were asked how comfortable we are on answering questions and being on camera, which I would say I'm fairly comfortable with but I'm not particularly looking forward to it.

Target: For this week it would be to become more confident in the drama classes and to try and participate in them more.

On a side note I have started a short course on face painting, I already know how to do it but I thought it would be a good idea to get a certificate to say that I can specifically do it, as the certificate from my previous course doesn't say any of the types of things I learned and only the course name. If this proves to be useful then I will do more of them as they are not that expensive and its always good to learn new things.
