Tuesday 7th: This was the first day of year 2, we had online lessons in the afternoon, starting with a bit of a catch-up and basic website maintenance. After that we had a lesson with Kristen in which we played a few games like guess the celebrity, we also discussed work experience.
Wednesday 8th: This was the first day back on campus, I spent the majority of the day finishing of the teepee I was tasked to make over the summer, the only thing I had left to do we paint the pattern onto it. I had some of the other year 2's assist me in painting it, which made it go a lot quicker. I think it turned out okay, some of the painting was a little bit messy but it still looked good, I finished it of by adding black ribbon to give it some fake stitches down the front. I did all of the actual construction of it at home, like cutting and sewing all the pieces together and drilling the holes in the dowels to put the rope through. To start it I cut out all the panels using the already finished edges so I didn't have to finish the tops and bottoms, then used a zigzag stitch to sew them together along the sides. Then I made a channel for the dowels to go through and used a straight stitch for that, I put the poles in to see if it looked okay and found the top was a little baggy so I added a pleat to each side and it seemed to work. I drilled the holes in the poles and then sanded it with my dremel so the rope would go through smoothly, for the painting I just mixed red paint with fabric medium.
We had our one on ones today as well in which we talked about our goals for the year and what we want to achieve.
Thursday 9th: For most of the day we did work on the script, starting with reading it and picking through finding anything to do with set, props, lighting and more. Then we did a few workshops for the year ones like finding a prop from the garage, making a prop which meant we had to sculpt a walnut and a costume exercise in which I had to help some of the year ones find some costumes. The three my group were given were a waitress, a policeman and a drag queen. For this task me and another year 2 got the drag queen outfit as an example and the we let the year ones try to find the other two outfits, I think they did a good job for their first try but there were a few things I would change, like the policeman's jacket and the waitresses skirt.
Target: Talk to the year 1's more and help people as much as I can.
Notes: I think I might add a finished work page to this website, that would be similar to my personal projects page but with only the finished pictures instead of loads of progress pictures so I can display more of my work in a more simple format. I won't do it immediately but I will consider it for the future.
