Week 23, 11th - 14th May 2021

Tuesday 11th: Updating website and doing some research on drinks mentioned in the script and there prices.

Wednesday 12th: I didn't get much done today as there was the grease show going on, I didn't know we would be watching it so it was a little annoying as I wanted to get stuff done but it's fine. I think the show could of been better if I'm being honest, I know it was only a rehearsal but I would of thought some of the issues would have been sorted by then. There seemed to be a big issue with sound whether that be the mics not working or the actors just not being loud enough, but it wasn't too bad. Another issue I had with the show was that there was practically no separation between the actors and the audience, the stage had been pushed forward to much so from where I was sitting some of the show was hard to see and the rushed nature of it all made some parts of the show way to short.

We didn't have to watch the show again for the real performance but I couldn't go into the workshop to cut out the rest of the jukebox because that would be too loud and disrupt the show, so I was in the costume room with everyone else. I helped make some scrunchies, although I didn't help much because I hadn't done any sewing in a while and sort of forgot what I was doing. After the show was done I could get the jukebox panels measured and cut out.

Thursday 13th: I started painting the jukebox and staining the back and side panels which took most of the day, I had to do most of it on the floor because the panels are to big for the tables in the art room, I would of preferred to put it on the table that has wheels so then I could of easily moved it around to work on it but someone else was using that table. I spent a while figuring out a way to do that curved top, I first thought about just cutting the top strip in two so its less of a curve for the wood but I knew that it would still need more support than just one beam in the middle so I decided it needed two curved bits of wood that it could be screwed to at several points so it would be secure enough. I also spent a while thinking of how the lights were going to be attached as they need to be a certain distance away from the foam to have an even glow, I figured out that if I add another of the 2 by 4 planks to the frame I could then attach an inner panel to that as it would be a good enough distance from the foam.

Friday 14th: This was a rehearsal day, there was a rehearsal for the 448 show in the morning that I didn't know about, which was fine I just helped move the bed to the stage and then got back on with my work. Once the actors for Two showed up I helped move the tables and chairs to the stage then continued to work on the jukebox, I mainly spent the day painting and staining the jukebox and cutting out some of the foam details from the scraps we had left. After that I had one of my classmates take the wheels of the grease car so I could use them for the jukebox, I was going to use the wheels from the bar but I figured this would be better as it means the bar can still be easily moved around for the time being, although the wheels on the bar will have to come of at some point.

Target: Construct the frame of the jukebox, take the wheels of both bars and raise the smaller one. Plus get the drinks sign cut out.
