Tuesday 18th: Updating website and doing some more research work.
Wednesday 19th: I cut the rest of the jukebox wood, the frame parts with a handsaw and the rest with the jigsaw, I had to use a drill so I could get the saw blade in to cut out the strips on the front panel where the lights will go, which didn't work very well because the drill bit was blunt and took ages to get through the wood. Once the strips were cut out I carefully hot glued the foam in place which also took a long time as the type of foam I was using could be easily melted so I had to do it slowly. While I was gluing the foam I had a class mate finish staining the wood and painting the pub sign to save time.
Thursday 20th: I spent the day trying to put the frame together but that was difficult because there was a show going on so I couldn't make noise for most of the day, which meant I had to do it in little bits. While I was waiting to put the frame together I used some silver tape I had brought in to cover some of the foam details I had already cut out and then glued them in place, I did this because painting each bit of foam would have taken a lot longer considering I would of had to prime each bit first. I then taped the lights in place on the middle panel and placed the front panel on top to see if they were in the right place, so far I think it's all looking good, although I am aware the lights will look a little different when the panels are fixed at the right distance apart so the light is diffused properly. Once I could put the frame together I came across a problem that I didn't think about when I cut the middle panel, because I cut it from the a scrap piece there was only enough to be just wide enough for lights to be in the right place, meaning it didn't have the edge trip around it to be the same width as the front and back panels. This meant the I had to add another strip of wood at the top and bottom of the frame to fix it to, however when I cut the extra strips there were several people distracting me and I cut the wrong length but I didn't want to waste the wood so I just used two bits of scrap wood to make up for the missing length, which seems to work well, its just irritating that I did it wrong the first time. I tried letting a class mate do some of the drilling and screwing, showing her how to hold the drill and telling her to just go slowly at first but it was quicker when I just did it myself.
When I got home I decided to make some drinks mats to go on the tables, I found some old logos and printed them off then glued them to both sides of the card I had cut out. I believe I made enough for two per table and maybe some on the bar itself or just to spares but if not I can always make some more.
Target: Finish screwing the frame together and construct the jukebox, add the details.
